    Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about industrial cooling towers and our services.

Natural draft (hyperbolic) cooling towers work on the principle of drawing hot air up through a high chimney structure; they are ideal for large thermal power plants and offer high capacity. Mechanical draft towers, on the other hand, control airflow through fan motors; they are preferred for refineries, chemical plants, and medium/large-scale industrial applications due to their more compact structures and precise temperature controls.
Comprehensive maintenance is recommended at least twice a year for mechanical cooling towers: season opening maintenance in early spring and season closing maintenance in late autumn. These maintenances cover fan blade and motor check, fill material inspection, water distribution system cleaning, and biological control tests. For reinforced concrete hyperbolic towers, structural inspection must be carried out every 2–3 years.
Vegetation growth, crack formation, concrete spalling, traces of corrosion, or measured performance decrease in cooling towers are signs of structural strengthening need. Especially in reinforced concrete structures over 20 years old, carbon fiber reinforcement, epoxy injection, and protective coating applications both extend structural life and increase operational safety.
Although it varies according to the size of the project; the design and approval process takes 4–8 weeks, manufacturing and supply takes 6–12 weeks, and site assembly takes 4–10 weeks. In turnkey EPC projects, the total duration is usually completed within 4 to 8 months. HUBYAPI guarantees timely delivery by tying project management processes to strict schedules.
HUBYAPI serves a wide range of sectors such as thermal power plants, nuclear energy facilities, oil refineries, petrochemical and chemical factories, iron-steel production facilities, cement factories, and HVAC systems. Special engineering solutions are developed by considering the unique process conditions of each sector.
Energy efficiency can be improved in several critical areas: increasing thermal performance by replacing high-efficiency fill materials, applying variable speed drive (VFD) fan motors, optimizing water distribution nozzles, and performing deviation analyses with regular thermal performance tests. HUBYAPI engineers can help existing systems achieve 15–30% energy savings.
Carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) systems consist of bonding high-strength carbon fiber strips or fabrics to reinforced concrete surfaces with epoxy resin. This method significantly increases bending, shear, and compression capacity without enlarging the section area of the structure, provides full resistance against corrosion, and the application time is much shorter than traditional methods.
HUBYAPI operates in accordance with ISO 9001 Quality Management System and ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety standards. All projects are carried out according to Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) norms and relevant European standards (EN). In addition, cooperation is made with independent quality audit firms in EPC projects and each stage is documented and reported to customers.
